Valentine’s Day Getaway: Top Three Destinations

Not long till it is the most romantic holiday of the year, Valentine’s Day. If you want to plan a getaway to celebrate your first, second or tenth Valentine’s Day, then now is the time to start planning your trip and making some reservations before it’s too late. Surprise your love with a fantastic weekend away to the City of Love itself, be dazzled in Times Square or take a ride on the London Eye this year to celebrate your commitment and love.

Magnificent Paris

Always a popular destination, Paris is a great option for a quick weekend trip. You can get to Paris multiple ways, depending on your country of departure. If you are travelling from within Europe, there might be bus or train services you can book. Many budget airlines also fly to Paris, so if you book on time or in a sale, you can score some cheap tickets. Explore Montmartre, Paris’ highest hill, admire the Notre-Dame Cathedral, or take a romantic stroll through the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. Pack yourself a picnic and enjoy all this park has to offer, including a case, bridges, waterfalls and a lake.
When in Paris, don’t forget to grab a delicious breakfast or brunch somewhere – you can’t visit Paris and not enjoy a scrumptious croissant in a Parisian café. If you have some money to splurge, book a table at one of the city’s luxury restaurants. Get a taste of history at La Poule au Pot and do some celebrity-spotting while you are there, or get a proper taste of France at Lazare.

Splendid London

With something on offer for everyone, London is an ideal destination for lovebirds. If you are total Potter-Heads, then get yourself some tickets to the Making of Harry Potter at Warner Bros Studios. Step inside Diagon Alley, be amazed by the Great Hall and see a wide range of authentic props. If you’re not a fan of Harry Potter, then London does have plenty of more on offer. Home to a wide array of cultural sights, London’s city centre is always a great place to be. Visit Lincoln’s Inn Fields, King’s College or more. Read up on this amazing cultural district with this guide from Lodha’s Lincoln Square.
Visit one of its many markets, like Camden or Portobello Road, do a bit of high-street shopping on Oxford Street or admire all things expensive at Harrods. London is also home to many amazing restaurants and bars. Book an afternoon tea or enjoy some food in one of its many, many pubs.

Dazzling New York

A little further afield in North-America, New York offers up a phenomenal experience for couples. Admire the bright billboards in Times Square, take in the sights from atop the Empire State Building or the Rockefeller Centre and stroll through Central Park. It might still be a bit cold during February, so bundle up and be prepared. Soak all Manhattan has to offer by taking a three-hour Full Island Cruise or take a shorter one-hour cruise past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. If you’re in Central Park, schedule a visit to the local zoo.
Get your cultural fix by scheduling a visit to one New York’s free museums. Take a tour of the world and visit the American Museum of Natural History, with a life-size model of a blue whale. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to food. Go all out and reserve a table at a swanky restaurant for a great romantic experience. If you are more on a budget, go to a dinner, steak house or a budget restaurant.
